Git is a great way to version control you project. We have been using it since March and have been very happy with it.
One thing i always forget, though, is where to install plugins that are housed in git repos like GitHub.com.
When you pull down a clone, always cd to /vendor/plugins and then pull.
A very small tidbit, but I will more than likely be referencing back here sometime. lol.
