September-2

Using the right tool for the right job is important whether you’re building a playset, establishing strong customer relationships or tracking sales. This is especially true when it comes to customer retention.

Long-term satisfied customers add value to your business. But, consistent repeat business requires you to build relationships with customers by maintaining contact. When you gather contact information during your busy season, you position your business for long-term success.

For most business, the holidays are their biggest sales season. While your business may count on the November – December sales rush, there is no reason this 2-month period can’t be the catalyst for continued sales throughout the year. By gathering customer contact information, you’ll have the necessary tools to keep the ball rolling long after the dust settles.

The trick is having the right pipelines in place to capture customer data.

Your business has a variety of data capturing options from the old school pen and paper to a more advanced computer program or online data system. No matter what system you put in place, the important thing is to use it and enter the information accurately. It doesn’t do you much good to have a first name, no last name and a miss-spelled email address.

Looking to capture data this holiday season? A great way to do so is with a tablet at your checkout counter. You can either set up a web page which feeds information into your contact relationship manager (CRM) or into a Google form. Ask customers to fill out the form at point of purchase for the opportunity to receive monthly sales updates. (Highrise, Close.io or Salesforce are three CRMs you might consider.)
